Privacy Policy
RateMyFace AI ("we", "our", or "the app"), operated by TQ Tech, helps you get an AI face rating from a selfie or gallery photo, view tips, track history, follow a daily glow-up routine, and optionally subscribe to Premium (ad-free experience and unlocked glow-up features). This policy explains what information is processed when you use the app and how we protect it.
1. Information we process
Face photos. When you take a selfie or choose a photo, the image is checked for a face on your device, then sent over HTTPS to our secure backend to generate an AI rating (scores, summary, tips, and routine suggestions). Photos are processed for that request and are not kept as a server-side photo archive.
Local rating data. Your ratings, routines, streak-related completions, theme, haptics, reminder preferences, glow-up unlock state, Premium entitlement cache, and onboarding state are stored locally on your device (Room / DataStore). This data does not leave your device unless you back up your phone through your platform provider.
Premium subscriptions & purchases. If you subscribe (for example weekly or yearly Premium), payment is processed by Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store your credit/debit card number, bank details, or full payment credentials. Google Play shares purchase tokens and subscription status with us (and our subscription partner) so we can unlock Premium features, restore purchases, and prevent fraud. Purchase history associated with your Google account is governed by Google’s policies.
Subscription management (RevenueCat). We use RevenueCat to verify entitlements, sync subscription status across devices/restores, and manage offerings. RevenueCat may process identifiers such as a RevenueCat app user ID, Google Play purchase tokens, product identifiers, subscription status, and device/app metadata needed to operate billing. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy for details.
Analytics & diagnostics. We use Google Firebase services (Analytics / GA4, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, and Remote Config) to understand app usage, improve reliability, and fix crashes. These services may collect app events, device model, OS version, language, approximate region, crash logs, performance metrics, and advertising/app instance identifiers where permitted. We do not use analytics to build a marketing profile of your face photos.
Service operations (Telegram). Our backend may send short operational alerts to a private messaging channel via Telegram so we can run and protect the rating service (for example: that a rating succeeded or failed, whether the request was Free or Premium, which AI model was used, token/cost totals, and truncated technical identifiers). These alerts are for our operations only. Face photos, rating scores tied to a person, and full device or account IDs are not sent to Telegram.
Advertising & consent (free experience). The free version is supported by ads (Google AdMob). Premium removes ads while your subscription is active. In regions where required, we show a consent form (Google UMP) so you can manage personalized ads and privacy choices. Ad partners may collect device identifiers and usage data according to their policies and your consent choices. Approximate location may be used by advertising partners for ad serving where permitted.
Notifications. If you enable daily reminders, the app schedules local notifications for your glow-up routine on your device. Reminder content is generated locally; we do not use reminders to upload personal data.
Support email. If you contact us from Settings, your email app may include technical details you send (such as app version and device model) so we can troubleshoot. We receive whatever you choose to send.
2. What we do not collect
- No account registration or email required to use the free app
- No credit/debit card numbers or bank account details (Google Play handles payments)
- We do not sell your personal information
- We do not maintain a long-term server archive of your selfie photos
- We do not request broad access to your entire photo library
- We do not send face photos or per-person scores to Telegram or other operations chats
3. How AI rating works
Your submitted photo is sent over HTTPS to our secure backend API (hosted on Cloudflare), which uses AI providers such as OpenCode Zen and OpenRouter to generate scores and guidance. The request includes the image content needed to produce a rating. Those providers process the photo only to return a rating for that request. Rate limiting may use network metadata (such as IP address) temporarily to prevent abuse. Ratings are for entertainment and self-improvement inspiration — not medical or professional advice.
4. Camera & photos
Camera. Camera permission is requested only when you choose to take a selfie. You can deny or revoke it anytime in Android Settings.
Gallery / Photo Picker. To rate an existing photo, the app uses the Android system Photo Picker. You select a single image; the app receives only that chosen file via a temporary content URI. We do not request broad photo-library permissions (such as READ_MEDIA_IMAGES) and we do not scan or sync your gallery in the background.
Saving. If you save a rating card, the app may write that image to your device’s Pictures folder (using MediaStore on modern Android). That save is initiated by you.
5. Premium features
Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription sold through Google Play. While Premium is active, ads are disabled and Premium-gated features (such as unlocked glow-up guides) are available. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. Cancellation stops future renewals; access typically continues until the end of the current billing period under Google Play’s rules.
Restoring purchases uses Google Play and RevenueCat to re-check entitlement status on your device. Refunds are handled by Google Play according to Google’s refund policies, not by the app directly.
6. Advertising
We show ads (including app-open, interstitial, native, and optional rewarded formats) to keep the free experience available. Google Mobile Ads / AdMob and related consent tooling may process advertising identifiers, app interactions, and diagnostic data. You can open ad privacy options or reset ad consent from the app Settings where available in your region. Premium subscribers do not see ads while entitlement is active.
7. Third-party services
We rely on service providers to operate the app, including:
- Google Play — distribution, billing, and subscription management
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlement verification
- Google Firebase / Google Analytics — analytics, crash reporting, performance, remote configuration
- Google AdMob / UMP — advertising and consent (free users)
- Cloudflare — hosting our backend API
- OpenCode Zen / OpenRouter — AI models that generate the face rating
- Telegram — private operational alerts for the rating API (no photos or scores)
- Our secure backend — AI face rating processing over HTTPS
Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy policy, limited to what is needed to provide their service to us.
8. Data retention
Server-side rate-limit and daily operations counters are temporary and used only to protect and operate the service. We do not keep a long-term archive of your face photos after a rating request completes. Operational Telegram messages are not a photo archive and do not include face images or per-person scores. Local history and preferences remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Purchase and entitlement records are retained by Google Play and RevenueCat as needed to provide subscriptions, prevent fraud, and comply with legal/financial obligations.
9. Children's privacy
RateMyFace AI is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it where applicable. Do not use the app to rate photos of children under 13.
10. Your rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because most app data is local, uninstalling the app and clearing app data removes most information associated with your use. For advertising privacy choices, use the in-app options or your device settings. For subscription invoices and payment details, use Google Play. Contact us for privacy requests related to support emails or other data we hold.
11. International users
Our backend infrastructure and service providers (including Cloudflare, Google, RevenueCat, OpenCode, OpenRouter, and Telegram) may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. By using the app, you consent to this processing for the purpose of delivering the service.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves (including when we add Premium, analytics, AI providers, or new partners). We will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you use Premium, material billing-related changes may also be reflected in Google Play’s subscription disclosures.
