Privacy Policy
RateMyFace AI ("we", "our", or "the app") helps you get an AI face rating from a selfie or gallery photo, view tips, track history, and follow a daily glow-up routine. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the app and how we protect it.
1. Information we process
Face photos. When you take a selfie or choose a photo, the image is checked for a face on your device, then sent over HTTPS to our secure backend to generate an AI rating (scores, summary, tips, and routine suggestions). Photos are processed for that request and are not kept as a server-side photo archive.
Local rating data. Your ratings, routines, streak-related completions, theme, haptics, reminder preferences, glow-up unlock state, and onboarding state are stored locally on your device (Room / DataStore). This data does not leave your device unless you back up your phone through your platform provider.
Advertising & consent. The free app is supported by ads (Google AdMob). In regions where required, we show a consent form (Google UMP) so you can manage personalized ads and privacy choices. Ad partners may collect device identifiers and usage data according to their policies and your consent choices. Approximate location may be used by advertising partners for ad serving where permitted.
Notifications. If you enable daily reminders, the app schedules local notifications for your glow-up routine on your device. Reminder content is generated locally; we do not use reminders to upload personal data.
Support email. If you contact us from Settings, your email app may include technical details you send (such as app version and device model) so we can troubleshoot. We receive whatever you choose to send.
2. What we do not collect
- No account registration or email required to use the app
- No subscription or payment card data (the app has no in-app purchases)
- We do not sell your personal information
- We do not maintain a long-term server archive of your selfie photos
- We do not request broad access to your entire photo library
3. How AI rating works
Your submitted photo is sent over HTTPS to our secure backend API, which uses AI to generate scores and guidance. The request includes the image content needed to produce a rating. Rate limiting may use network metadata (such as IP address) temporarily to prevent abuse. Ratings are for entertainment and self-improvement inspiration — not medical or professional advice.
4. Camera & photos
Camera. Camera permission is requested only when you choose to take a selfie. You can deny or revoke it anytime in Android Settings.
Gallery / Photo Picker. To rate an existing photo, the app uses the Android system Photo Picker. You select a single image; the app receives only that chosen file via a temporary content URI. We do not request broad photo-library permissions (such as READ_MEDIA_IMAGES) and we do not scan or sync your gallery in the background.
Saving. If you save a rating card, the app may write that image to your device’s Pictures folder (using MediaStore on modern Android). That save is initiated by you.
5. Advertising
We show ads (including app-open, interstitial, native, and optional rewarded formats) to keep the app free. Google Mobile Ads / AdMob and related consent tooling may process advertising identifiers, app interactions, and diagnostic data. You can open ad privacy options or reset ad consent from the app Settings where available in your region.
6. Data retention
Server-side rate-limit data is temporary and used only to protect the service. We do not keep a long-term archive of your face photos after a rating request completes. Local history and preferences remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
7. Children's privacy
RateMyFace AI is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it where applicable.
8. Your rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because most app data is local, uninstalling the app and clearing app data removes most information associated with your use. For advertising privacy choices, use the in-app options or your device settings. Contact us for privacy requests related to support emails or other data we hold.
9. International users
Our backend infrastructure and advertising partners may process data in the United States and other countries where service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to this processing for the purpose of delivering the service.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
